MXF Technology, Inc. specializes in the design and manufacture of monochromatic X-ray sources and systems that incorporate multilayer X-ray optics.

We have the ability to model the performance of multilayer coatings, allowing us to design coatings that meet performance goals for specific monochromatic X-ray applications.

MXF Coating Facility

MXF production and R&D facilities include three magnetron sputtering machines for coating. The facility also has a PANalytical X-ray reflectometer to measure coating layer thicknesses and custom-built systems to measure the spectral response of coatings, for accurately mating filters to X-ray sources and for X-ray imaging systems.

The Coating Process

Coatings are produced in a vacuum chamber using magnetron sputtering. We select the thickness of the coating materials for their transmissive, reflective, and absorbative characteristics at the X-ray energies required for the applications. We have the ability to customize our multilayer coatings to meet specific needs.
