The above photo is of a MXF Multi-energy ‘Tunable Filter Housing’that can produce Monochromatic X-rays at any energy level (10-80keV).

Monochromatic Image quality depends on Energy

Application : The Tunable MXF is integrated and aligned to an existing polychromatic X-ray source to produce monochromatic X-rays with a narrow bandwidth of 1-3keV.

The tunable MXF Filter & Housing. is designed to be OEM or user-installed X-ray source. The MXF housings come in different energy levels (10--80 keV) and are designed to be user swappable. Additional Multi-energy MXF housings can be purchased separately as well as individual tunable enclosures. Only a single Multi-energy MXF housing can be mounted within a tunable enclosure at a time.

Why tunable?

The ability to fine-tune and adjust the output on an X-ray source allows the user to select a precise output over a range of useful increments.  This expands the utility of the X-ray source and ensures that precise X-ray output can achieved at minimum radiation levels.

The production of useful tunable monochromatic X-rays of high-peak power in a geometry suitable for practical human imaging has been a long-sought goal.

An x-ray beam between 10 and 60  keV that is in a narrow bandwidth(2-5 keV), and is tunable within that range to the imaging task, would help improve diagnostic accuracy with reduced radiation dose to the patient. This is the advantage provided by our Tunable MXF Source.
